This all sounds so wonderful. For those of us unable to attend your discussion on Oct. 28th, will it be recorded and available to watch at a later date? Even if it's behind a paywall, I think I could swing one month to watch a recap.
We will be sure to share what happened during the event, either via a recording or a post. Still figuring out all the technical details....I'll keep you posted:)
I am looking forward to attending! Also, while at a loose end in Holland (my sister-in-law was away from home and my husband was at work in northern Holland), I started reading Exogenesis. I am generally not a fan of dystopian fiction but once I started reading it I was sucked in. I read it in one day. I was fascinated yet also horrified because it seemed all too plausible :( Highly recommend it.
Glad to hear it pulled you in, Edie! If you have a moment, give it a rating on goodreads or Amazon. If the story seemed eerily plausible, it’s mainly because a lot of the technologies in it are already available today or else are in early development.
Wonderful to have you along Edie! Also happy to hear that you enjoyed reading Exogenesis - I have heard from several people who do not generally enjoy dystopian fiction that they read the book in a single go.
Yes sir! Hosting tomorrow, with deer tenderloin courtesy of my neighbor and squirrel noodle soup from myself. Some wild hog steaks from a coworker to round it off.
Hope you enjoy it Wendy :) Peco gave the first draft to me as a present - Nothing quite says “I love you” more than when your spouse writes a dystopian novel for your birthday!
I really would like to come Saturday. I think I can schedule around this time right now but would love a recording or detailed post just in case I can’t make it happen. : )
Hey Jason , as I admitted in my footnote "meeting “online” for an “unmachining” event is an oxymoron". Yet by taking the discussion to a more personal, conversational level we are taking steps in the right direction. Unmachining does not mean throwing out all technology (as some misunderstand it to mean), it means "building different life foundations that support a tectonic shift in our relationship to technology." My preferred method would be to have people meet in person, discuss, and enact changes in their lives (which many readers are actively doing) :)
Completely agree with your perspective on this. All tools are useful to the extent that they allow us to fulfill the prime objective. When they distract they become a liability. Some tools are more distracting than others, to be sure.
Hello Ruth, We have a previous meeting booked, but wanted to take part in: “The Unmachined Coffee House” event advertised above. Will I be able to source a follow up livestream to engage with this important ongoing topic? - Many thanks, Bill Saunders, Worcester UK
Hi Bill, sorry that you won't be able to join us live. We will be sure to share what happened during the event, either via a recording or a post. Let me know if there is a particular question that you would like to hear addressed.
Hmmm, it will be 6am here if I am calculating correctly, which is fine. A bigger issue will be whether or not the internet will be working here in rural Australia well enought that day...fingers crossed.
A great way to start your morning:) Another reader in rural NZ had a similar concern about internet connection. We will try and make a recording available so that those who cannot connect live can watch it later.

Same question - I have family arriving in town just about exactly that time on the 28th, but would love to catch up on it when I have a moment!
There are several readers who have been asking about a recording, so we hope to make one available :)

And great to hear you are attending our event!

I can't add anything else to my schedule at the moment, especially during deer season lol, but I hope the online event goes well!
Fill the freezer!

If only I were in the neighborhood!
I’m planning to attend ❤️
Looking forward to having you join Gretchen:)
And I just bought Peco’s book as well. It has been so long since I read and enjoyed fiction. I can’t wait for it to arrive!
Hope you enjoy it Wendy :) Peco gave the first draft to me as a present - Nothing quite says “I love you” more than when your spouse writes a dystopian novel for your birthday!

We are planning on sharing a recording, as there are several readers who may not be able to make it. I'll keep everyone posted on the details.
New subscriber. I plan to attend.
Great to have you along Margaret :)
It would be great to be with you
Unfortunately, as a Priest in New Zealand, 3pm EST Saturday is 8am Sunday here . . . Ah well :)
Sorry that the timing does not work out for you. We will try and make a recording available for those who cannot be there :)
Sounds great! I’m planning to be there.
Wonderful - great that you can join us! Be sure to sign up for the paid special before the 28th so that you'll be on the link list:)
How do you talk about living the unmachined life on the internet?
Just curious 🤔
Really enjoy your writing and the recent interview.

Excellent- would love to have you join Nikki (although the time difference must be a bit of a challenge for you....)
